Only eight hours, with drinks and snacks in the Grand Lounge before bed. Elite upgrades here get good marks from other Globalists in the thread.

No suite, but a solid room with bay and airport views, and a good restaurant breakfast. Valet-only parking was a small annoyance.

The front desk texted ahead about arrival and departure times, a nice touch and a first. A suite request worked, with a slightly later arrival.

    Junior suite, offered without asking

Standard room (points, 23,000) → Junior Suite (XX48 room)

Travelling home from Australia with a toddler in June 2022, a Globalist booked the night before his morning arrival for 23,000 points against a cash rate of about $480, just to guarantee a room for a nap and shower during a long SFO layover. The hotel had him blocked into a junior suite, the XX48 room type it treats as its standard suite, with a small living room, a bedroom facing airport operations, and binoculars by the lounge chair. Globalist benefits were explained at check-in: the Grand Club was open but offering only snacks and soft drinks, and breakfast would have been a choice of the Quail & Crane restaurant or takeaway from the market, though the family only stayed about two and a half hours before deciding to fly home the same day. He called it a gorgeous hotel and the property to pick for an SFO overnight, cost permitting.

The night after opening, no late checkout was offered and breakfast went unexplained. Liked the friendly staff, gym, Grand Club design and AirTrain link.

    À la carte only

A Globalist spent one night with his mother on a cash rate of about $180, well below pre-pandemic pricing for this Category 5 airport hotel, where a points night would have cost 20,000. At check-in he was thanked for his status and told he had been upgraded to a corner suite on the 10th floor, room 1002, with binoculars and a plane-spotting guide on the daybed and a bathtub facing the airfield. With the Grand Club and restaurants closed, breakfast came as a voucher for an item and a drink at the 24/7 Twin Crafts Market, where a veggie omelet and a smoked salmon bagel were both excellent. He called it one of the two best airport hotels in the world and said he cannot wait to return.
