Standard room (conference group rate, $309/night) → King room 1553, 15th floor

    À la carte only

Staying several days on a $309-a-night conference group rate when typical rates run $250 to $300, a Globalist was acknowledged at check-in but told no upgrades were available because the hotel was sold out, and stayed in king room 1553 on the 15th floor facing the convention center. His Globalist breakfast at TIDAL+ was free and taken a la carte as an omelet with fruit, on a menu where the two-egg breakfast cost $20 and his parents found the potatoes rock hard. He declined housekeeping and chose a roughly $15 bottle of Washington Hills cabernet over a 35,000-point raffle entry or a $10 daily food credit. The shower had no door and loud vibrating pipes, dinner at TIDAL+ was small and salty enough that he advised eating elsewhere, and he judged the Category 5 pricing more like a Category 4, recommending the hotel mainly for its large gym and 84-degree indoor pool.

    Room
Standard room (cash, $193.10 for one night) → Standard room

A Globalist paid $193.10 for one night in a standard room at this Category 5 hotel, where award nights ran 17,000 to 23,000 points, and earned over 4,000 points including his 30% Globalist bonus and a Bonus Journeys promotion. He received no elite upgrade, and found the room the least special of the four Seattle Hyatts he tried on the trip: small, bland and sparsely decorated with only so-so views, though the stone-tiled bathroom and fast Wi-Fi were pluses. He ranked the food first among the four properties, praised the 65-foot saline pool, gym and Elaia Spa, and ordered a bacon-and-egg sandwich from the lobby O8 cafe for breakfast, but said he would probably skip the property on his next Seattle visit.

Both stays brought a corner suite with floor-to-ceiling windows. Amazing food on the $26.50 credit, free valet, and a better vibe than the Grand Hyatt.

Applied the suite award just one to two weeks out. The $26.50 per-person credit worked at the restaurant and market pantry, and they'd gladly return.

Grilled by the front desk over a key problem. At 5am every sound came through the adjoining room's wall, and breakfast service felt hostile.
