Standard room (Category 1-4 free night certificate) → Renovated standard room

A Discoverist used annual Category 1-4 free night certificates for a July 2026 family staycation, when standard high-floor rooms were running $387 to $414 cash or 15,000 to 20,000 points, and booked a couple of rooms. No upgrade outcome was reported; the renovated room was quiet and comfortable despite a dated tub and shower curtain. Breakfast at The Bridge was not included and was priced at $32 per person plus tax for the buffet, and the indoor pool and hot tub saved a foggy, cool day for the family.

Room (type not specified in review) → Executive Suite (room 930)

On a quiet Thursday night in mid-January, the reviewer was upgraded to the Executive Suite, the hotel's standard suite, in room 930. The suite was spacious and quiet, with a sofa bed in the living room and complimentary water bottles, though the living room had little natural light because only the bedroom has windows. Part of the hotel was under renovation, so a side entrance was in use. The reviewer did not state his own elite status, and he praised the location one block from Michigan Avenue with easy CTA Red Line access.

A minimal upgrade didn't matter with the parents in an executive suite. Kind staff, tasty breakfast, unbeatable location: would stay again.

Excellent Globalist treatment for a Centric, perks explained at check-in. Odd bathroom layout, fast breakfast, and would make it the Chicago default.

    Honoured

Best hotel buffet since COVID began, plus free parking on an award stay. Ambulances from the hospital next door were loud overnight.

With the restaurant open again, order off the menu rather than the buffet. Rooms facing the hospital can mean broken sleep from sirens.

No bar or breakfast yet in March 2021, so the hotel paid 500 points a day. Mostly deserted, with a very good gym.
