A Globalist booked at $129 per night on a Healthcare Heroes Friends & Family rate, well below the usual $200 to $300-plus, and used a Globalist suite upgrade for a six-night stay to secure the Santa Maria Suite, the hotel's standard suite, on the top floor of the Santa Maria building. The $30 resort fee was waived, he told the clerk he did not need the guaranteed 4 p.m. checkout, and no welcome gift was received. Breakfast at Cafe Lido was complimentary in principle with generous portions, but the hotel imposed an arbitrary $24 limit that often did not cover the entree, coffee and juice the terms promise, which he reported to Hyatt. The suite felt a little dated and had a shower door that scraped the floor, bathroom blinds that would not close properly and a toilet that flushed poorly, though he still calls the hotel a go-to Santa Barbara choice with friendly, text-responsive staff.

Modest upgrade in a sold-out week, garage parking waived for EV charging. Loved the spot across from the beach, though the pool was crowded.

    Room
Standard queen room (points, 20,000/night, 40,000 for 2 nights) → King room with ocean-facing balcony, corner room, Santa Cruz building

A Globalist booked two nights for 40,000 points total at this Category 5 hotel and was immediately upgraded at check-in from a standard queen room to a 300 sq ft corner king room on the second floor of the Santa Cruz building with a balcony facing East Beach. The $30 daily resort fee was waived for Globalist status, parking that normally cost $20 a day was free, and the premium internet fee was also waived. With Costa Kitchen & Bar closed under Covid restrictions, Cafe Lido breakfast was free and taken as contactless room service. The room was smaller than expected, the fitness center was closed while the pool and hot tub stayed open, and she praised the quiet beachfront location as a great getaway.

Breakfast, confusing at first, was comped at $24 a person for four, but the cafe opened at 8am and was slammed. Great location, would return.

A go-to in Santa Barbara, and the balcony was the best part. Costa breakfast covered an entree, fruit and a latte daily.
