A couple booked one night through American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts over a busy holiday weekend with a wedding in house and were not upgraded to a suite, staying in a standard room that was ready early. The FHR benefits still delivered about $200 in value: the $42 per person Pergola breakfast buffet for two was included, a $100 food and beverage credit covered almost all of a Pergola dinner with an appetizer and dessert, and a guaranteed 4 p.m. checkout applied. They skipped the $76 valet for the parking deck next door and said the 100,000 square foot Sporting Club alone made the stay worthwhile and that they would return.

  Welcome amenity

  Given

Terrific Sporting Club, handy Broad Street location, though the nearby Centric edges it on rooms. One free drink at Pergola, where construction blocks the view.

Mediocre at best, with a room that never cooled below 71 and noise even in interior rooms. No plans to stay again.

Well-finished rooms and an impressive Sporting Club, but lots of street noise. The 19th-floor buffet is free for Globalists, poor value for anyone paying.

  Room

standard room on points → standard room

Untrained housekeeping and key readers that failed after hours, the weekend after reopening. Valet was covered on points, and Sporting Club access was a plus.

  Breakfast

Full: buffet and à la carte

Huge but worn room, noisy through connected air vents and from the street. Sporting Club closed and rates high, so a return is doubtful.

  Honoured

A Bellevue Suite was offered only as a $50 a night upsell, poor value against the certificate. The Avenue Suite faced the atrium, rather gloomy.
