A Globalist stayed two nights in September 2026 on a Member Rate of $618 plus taxes a night while midtown New York rates topped $1,000 during UN week, at this Category 5 property where points would have run 15,000 to 35,000 a night, and the $35 daily destination fee never appeared on his folio. At check-in the agent explained his Globalist breakfast benefit at Felice Ristorante and handed over breakfast vouchers he never had time to use, offered a late checkout he did not need, and apologised that he could only be upgraded one category, to a 1 King Bed Deluxe room. He found the room small with little view and the amenities thin for the price, and said he would not hurry back despite friendly staff.

A 6:30am check-in after a redeye. The retro-elegant room felt fresh, not dated, but ran cold on winter nights in the poorly insulated old building.

Standard room (Hyatt Prive rate; stay paid for by the Prive program for an event) → Thompson Suite (suite 70, 7th floor)

    À la carte only

Staying on a Hyatt Prive rate for a Prive event, with the program paying for the stay, the reviewer was upgraded to the Thompson Suite on the seventh floor, a large open-plan suite with a wet bar, a soaking tub and a separate guest bathroom, though the bedroom is not walled off from the living area. Prive brought breakfast for two at Felice, where he had avocado toast with poached eggs, and a $50 property credit that roughly covered a $52 dinner of bolognese and chicken Milanese. He noted cash rates swing from about $200 to over $600 a night and free nights cost 20,000 points, and he praised the suite highly and recommended it. His own elite status is not stated in the review, so it is recorded as unknown.

A certificate night when most Manhattan hotels were $400-500, plus a 2,000-point Brand Explorer bonus. Big for NYC, very high ceilings, but dim by day.

The best points deal in Manhattan, with a $100 breakfast limit and chatty staff. The Gold Street entrance can be tricky to find by car.

Decor felt like a done-up Hyatt Place, not boutique luxury. A low-floor suite despite booking early, and two bathrooms felt like wasted space.

Terrific at 15k a night against low expectations. Warmer than the Park Hyatt New York suite at 30k a night the weekend before.

Roomy for NYC, but the full bath sits by the front door, far from the bedroom. Heaters struggled in the cold, thermostats mostly for show.

Told King suites were sold out, apparently untrue, and a manager apologized with a free glass of prosecco. Small room, noisy HVAC, but would return.
