For a late March stay the reviewer redeemed 30,000 points per night instead of paying about $900 cash, with the $45 nightly resort fee waived on points, and had a Globalist friend make a Guest of Honor booking so Globalist benefits applied, including an upgrade, 4 p.m. late checkout subject to availability and free breakfast for two; her own elite status is not stated, so it is recorded as unknown. She was upgraded from a garden view room to an oceanfront bungalow suite, cabin 506 at over 600 square feet, a room type costing nearly $300 more per night than garden rooms, and the room was ready an hour early. Arrival brought kukui nut leis and POG juice, plus a welcome letter with a $15 on-site market credit. Globalist breakfast carried a $42 per person allowance and the resort removed all breakfast charges even after they went slightly above it, over dishes such as saimin at $20 and mochiko pancakes at $24. She called it one of her best Hyatt redemptions yet.

A December storm left the wifi too slow for remote work, and food trucks were the best food when open. Planning five days next time.

    Breakfast
    Restaurant or F&B credit

    Given

Over the Fourth of July holiday a two-night Guest of Honor stay was booked for 30,000 points per night, against paid rates around $750 per night plus a $43 daily resort fee that is waived on award stays, so Globalist perks applied though the reviewer's own status is not stated and is recorded as unknown. The initial base room, room 44, was dark, hot with no air conditioning, dated and had a dead cockroach under the sink. After seeing an Oceanfront Bungalow Premier Suite open in the app he called the front desk; the agent could not see it in his system but dug into it and moved them, first to suite 509 and then to the nearly identical suite 205 for the second night because the same suite was not open both nights. The Globalist breakfast benefit was a $42 per person per day credit that also covered breakfast delivered to the room including gratuity, apart from a $7 delivery charge, though alcoholic drinks were charged. POG juice was served on arrival, staff including the front-desk agents who managed the moves were praised warmly, and he called the stay absolutely incredible, with his only regret being not staying longer, while warning that the garden side feels like a different, inferior resort.

Full rate, and the view was mostly the bungalow below. The hotel had no record of an April stay, and management never responded.

A perfect end to Maui after a hectic week in Wailea. Pick the three-digit ocean-view bungalows across the road over the two-digit garden-view ones.
