Standard room (cash, $215/night via company booking site) → King bedroom

A Globalist stayed a week after the hotel reopened in November 2021 on a $215 nightly cash rate, about $501 total, with the $25 destination fee removed for his status. He was upgraded to a king bedroom, but elite recognition otherwise stopped there: there was no club, no daily housekeeping or room service, and the Globalist breakfast benefit was a single coffee, water and a reheated egg-and-bacon sandwich from the lobby Market. Check-in took about 15 minutes with no elite line, his first room had no hot water, a replacement twin room had the same problem, the air conditioning did not cool below about 72 degrees, and rooms showed heavy wear, dust and stains. He said he would not return until the planned replacement hotel opens.

A Globalist spent a week at the hotel on a $133 nightly cash rate for a queen room, with the $40 destination fee waived for his status, and was assigned a small 24th-floor room. He expected a standard-suite upgrade but none was offered at check-in and he did not push for one while travelling solo. Globalist benefits were access to the Commodore Study on the 16th floor with drinks and light breakfast items, plus the full restaurant buffet free of charge; the buffet would otherwise have cost $57 including the $45 charge, automatic gratuity and taxes, and he found the selection underwhelming, settling for a bagel and fruit. The $40 fee included a $15 daily Market credit, but Market items were heavily marked up, there was no coffee maker or laundry service, and he described the whole property as tired despite the unbeatable Grand Central location and reasonable price.

Bigger than the Andaz kings, with a modern bathroom. Much better value than pricier Hyatts nearby, though they wouldn't spend category-6 points on it.

The 9,000-point upgrade gave a suite that worked for a family with kids. Removing breakfast charges took a manager at checkout.

A disgrace for a paid suite: a closet-sized bathroom, ugly furniture, trash in the halls and unsecured elevators. Would never stay again.

Felt much smaller than the corner suite shown online, with a tiny bathroom and no real workspace. Would avoid the hotel unless location is key.
